I have friend at Columbia now who got accepted from the waitlist. He said that after he was waitlisted, he continued going to campus, visiting classes, spoke with professors and adcom members, etc. Basically, did everything possible to show how strong his interest was in the school. He eventually got accepted... I would recommend doing the same. Don't just call and say please accept me.. Actually go and show that you really want to be accepted. This link shows some good info also https://www.ivyleagueadmission.com/waitbus.html
Hi dw21, thank you very much for this. Without revealing too much about your friend for privacy reasons, can you share with us his timeline (ie. when he applied, when he was waitlisted, when he eventually was accepted)?
My friend is currently enrolled - class of 2012. He was admitted last year off the waitlist so i'm not sure of his time line. Sorry.

Right, I figured that he was currently enrolled, I just thought maybe you knew when he eventually got off the waitlist and if he had applied in a normal timeframe (early Jan). I am dreading the wait Thanks anyways!
unfortunately, i haven't. i've called the admissions office 2x in the past 2 weeks. both times, they told me that i should be in the final stages of review. funny...that's what my interviewer told me on january 14th.
I'm guessing they'll see how many February-March admits opt for HBS, Stanford etc over the next two weeks. After the 4/15 deposit deadline, I bet we start to see more movement one way or the other.
Wow...so little activity lately. I figured with all the other programs releasing decisions last week and this week we'd hear something from CBS. I'm not sure what they're waiting for. Admit weekend? Deposit day? gcap you've been essentially on an unofficial waitlist!

no activity on this in 4 days?? went interview complete on around 21 March (didn't get an email, might have been the 18th March). Is it too wishful thinking for me to hope to hear back kinda soon...? Has anyone heard anything in past few days?

No action here.
Is there any substantive difference between our current state and being on the CBS waitlist? Why have some been waitlisted and others just told to wait?

I'm wondering the same thing.. I've been complete since 3/1 and not sure what's going on at this point. Is this the unofficial waitlist..?

Columbia Connect II begins this Thursday. I doubt there will be any movement this week, as they are probably very busy preparing for the admit weekend. Also, most people's deposits are due 4/15. You will probably see decisions pick up after that.
good news! have been accepted for jan 2012 entry! anyone else on the waiting list interested in jan 2012 start should talk to admissions about this possibility.
in the meantime.. anyone else have this happen to them?? The Jan '12 application hasn't opened yet but from the sound of it this may have happened to others as well...
