Indeed, ryguy.
What I am pointing out however is that if you receive and interview invite 8 weeks later, it is believed to be very likely that you would get an admit/deny decision within a few days after your interview feedback is received. On the other hand, let's say if you receive an interview invite within 3 weeks, it may be that your final decision will take 2-3 weeks to be released.
Since there's several hundred pages of CBS threads on BW, I can't exactly remember where this was said. And yes, I've gone through each and every one of them, heck it's 8pm on a Friday and this is what I'm doing for fun.
[edit - see below]But if you see the 2007 ED applicant spreadsheet on the 2007 CBS ED thread there, you'll notice a lot of the late October through December invites received decisions 2-3 days after their interview feedback was received. On the other hand several September and early October invites received their decisions a couple of weeks later.
I don't know, maybe I'm just grasping at straws here.

Anything to feed my CBS obsession!

You will receive some sort of notification within 10 weeks of your app going complete. It is possible to receive an interview invite in Week 8 and get your decision after week 10 (because of setting up an interview, interviewer submitting feedback, etc.). All CBS commits to is having you receive some sort of notification (i.e., new information regarding your status) within 10 weeks. In other words, you are not necessarily promised a final decision within 10 weeks.
edit - found it! here's what Ben May from CBS admissions posted on BW back in 2006:
There is no real typical turnaround time for decision after an interview because an interview can come any time in the evaluation process: after first read, after second and after going to committee. So someone who gets a committee invite will have a long period before they get the invite and a relatively fast turnaround time after the interview completes, as compared to someone who gets invited after a first read, who will get an interview invitation relatively shortly but then has to go back to be read a second time and get in the queue to go to the committee. Then there's second-read invites which are somewhere in the middle... Hope this clarifies things!
