Yes I have all three options phone, alumni or campus, but realistically I can only do the phone option now and that sucks because I am not a phone interview kind of person.... oh well... whatever needs to be done will have to be done...

Question to people who have interviewed: Is the interview blind or did the interviewer read your application before hand?

My interview was on-campus, and I was told that it was semi-blind. Meaning: She had not read my app, but had received notes from the other adcoms who had read it. The interview was mostly casual, and if there was a lull, she used the questions/comments from others to lead the conversation. I didn't get some standard questions (resume walk-through, etc), so the only advice I can offer is to know your weaknesses and be prepped to account for them, and most importantly (from meeting quite a few who got into Johnson), be your normal self. They're looking for the people who will unite to form a really cool class; unfortunately I'm not eloquent enough to define "cool", but essentially be a decent person (i.e. courteous, friendly, [don't punch people]y to keep with adjective usage, etc.)

Not knowing your location, obviously going to Ithaca would be a better bet, but phone should be fine. If you get Ann, Randall, or other people on the adcomm, you should be fine, they're all really laid back, so just be confident. I ended up just driving 9 hours to Ithaca for mine, but it all worked out.

Hey there, I am kind of new on here. I am curious if anyone has any tips regarding the Park Fellowship finalist interviews?

Unfortunately, same advice as last post to interviewer, be calm/yourself throughout. The interviews seem to be meant to assess your teamwork skills, and your ability to get along with others while still achieving a goal. There are probably some objective metrics as well (other offers you have on the table, etc.), but remember that all you control is yourself, at this point. Try not to sweat it (I know that's harder-said-than-done), you'll get to be around 30 or so other talented/fun people, so do your job while still enjoying it. The enjoying part, from where I stood, was important; they point out the cohesiveness of the class regularly, so I assume that seeing how well you get along with other potential classmates is a significant part of the idea behind the separate interview process. They'll make it clear multiple times that anyone invited can in theory be a great Parks Fellow, so you already made that cut. And on that note, gz on the invite!

cool thanks... I won't be able to see Ithaca which is tragic coz I really wanted to visit the campus. I will probably finish my interview by phone this Friday.

I got the interview invite today as well! Same deal - option of phone, local alum or campus interview, needs to be completed by the 18th to get a decision by the 23rd. Thanks to everyone for their helpful interview advice so far!

congrats ! from your case, it seems that tomorrow is the last date.

I wouldn't think so. They stated in their email that they are backed up and will not get all the decisions by the 23rd.

true, they probably won't get decisions out by the 23rd but gauging from the interview deadline they assigned you, it seems that they will extend invites (what i'm waiting on) until tomorrow, to allow for the possibility that a person doesn't see his/her e-mail until thursday.

anyhoo, this is pure conjecture on my part since the wait is maddening.

I didn't get an option... they wanted me to go come to campus... which is great because I wanted to see it... but sort of is tricky because i've got 24ish hours of travel as a result. :-)

24 hrs of door-to-door travel. I'm not really complaining.. I'm happy to do it. Just strange that I wasn't given the option of an alumni or phone interview. I'm on the west coast.

That is kind of odd, but maybe it is a "we really like you and want to make sure you really like us" kind of thing. Regardless good luck, hopefully the weather is nice when you head out there!

Today I was contacted by one of the 2nd year students with some information about one of the clubs and offering his help if I need anything. He said that he got my email from the adcom. Does it mean anything positive or no connection to the admission process? I wasn't invited for an interview yet :(

Hello-
Long time stalker, first time poster here. Just thought I wish everyone good luck. I submitted for R4 on March 1st. From the trends on here, I don't expect to here back until end of April. What is the percentage of acceptance for Cornell?

did you send adcom an emial asking to connect you with students with similar interests / backgrounds? if yes, then this event makes sense.

wouldn't be too positive, no concrete reason to.
