I was a 3rd round waitlister that was offered admission last week. I am enrolling and am thrilled to be a part of the '12 class.
During my time on the waitlist I stayed in constant contact with my admission adviser. I probably reached out once of week to either submit something new or ask a question. Specifically I:
- Resubmitted the leadership essay I originally included for the Park Fellowship (it was not reviewed by the admission's committee)
- Rewrote and greatly expanded on my Career Goals and Fit essay, touching on all the big points like Why MBA, Why Now, Why Cornell, Why the SGE Immersion, Short and Long Term Career goals.
- Reached out to faculty, current students and alumni, introduced myself as a waitlist candidate and expressed a desire to speak with them to help better understand how I could contribute to the school and how my interests would be best served at Cornell. Some of these conversations went well enough that the person offered to support my candidacy with the admissions committee.
At one point I was told that an offer of admission could come as late at the day before orientation, so good luck to everyone still on the waitlist.
