There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
Randomness - Yes they have started to send out emails for interviews for R1 candidates.

My applications status still says submitted. I submitted on 5th Oct. Any idea how much time do they take to put it under review? I am just a little anxious because there does not seem to be much communication or action on the application page.

I know exactly how you feel. However, the process is fairly random, you might not get an interview invite until a day or two before the decision notification date for that round. As such your status might not change to under review till a week or so before the decision notification date (not all that likely, but it happens more often than you think). I know it's easier said than done, but it's out of your hands now, don't follow up with them and try not to think too much about it.
I have also applied in R1 and submitted on 4th October. No updates on status though. Maybe those who have already received interview dates can update here on this thread. Thanks!
Hey! So with everyone getting invites so early when do people actually get acceptances? Will they wait until December? seems like a long wait if you already interview in mid October right? Any chance that they'll release individual decisions before?
Thats odd. The Conell admissions site say that they start sending invites only a month after the application deadline. Has anyone else received an Invite?
When can I check the status? If I go to application, there is Submitted Status. And if I click "Check your application", there is a title Applications status. Both are "Submitted" now, is there any other place to check status?
Applying R2, had a quick question for current students...how important is it for prospectives to visit Cornell? I don't think I would be able to visit but is Cornell one of those schools (Tuck, Darden, etc..) that really wants prospectives to come on campus before applying?
