it was in the declaration section - they give you 150 words to explain anything you want. It wasnt in the actual essay section.

I wanted to explain employment gap and choice of recommenders.

I would recall that Darden mentions something in the line of "please explain any employment gaps" on the Professional Section. So maybe you got lucky and you have already mentioned the gaps however briefly on this section, eliminating the need for iteration on the Declaration Section?

If not, and if you feel it is important to explain the gap(s), you might consider reaching the admissions team to explain your situation. In this way, you can be upfront with the admissions office about the omission that it was not intentional but merely by a human error that we all make.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your application.

Forget the weekend, I've already began to freak out. I remember in my interview, the interviewer mentioned that what got me to that stage was two readers liked my app. Now, after the interview, three more readers will read my app to render a decision.

Wow. So five people are involved to make the final decision on a single application. Then, Darden is the most comprehensive and thorough school in terms of candidate evaluation, as far as I know.

Hi,

I submitted my application on the 3rd night, but my recommenders submitted their recommendations only after the 5th deadline. Will I still be considered for Round 2 or will my application be moved to Round 3 because of this ??

Thanks in advance.

See a post by Hussain15 above. The post mentions that Darden provides 2 days of grace period, making it "safe" for Round 2, if sent by the 7th.

Hope this helps!

Heyy Hussain15 ,

Thank you so much! It definetly helps :).

Regards,
Prasaad

Hi all, I just flew back to my hometown! I was on Darden grounds, interviewing on the very last day (of interview dates for round 1). I have to say that the staff was just so wonderful and exude this joyful feeling onto anyone who walks in the admissions door. I had the chance to tour the campus and eat lunch with a faculty member. The interview was completely informal and was the "tell me your story" type of chat. Thankfully I chose the last day to interview - now the wait to hear back is so short I won't have to freak out too much. Time to detox from the hours of plane ride...

Hi fellow Round 2 applicants,

Just stumbled upon this on Darden Admissions blog (by Arielle Greene):

(as a response to recommendation deadline question)
"You are correct – the recommendations should be submitted tonight by 11:59 (EST). However, if your recommendation writers have not submitted by Monday, January 10th, we will contact you to let you know."

It sounds, at least to me, that if your letter is still due, proactively reaching the admissions office and explaining your what is delaying the letter, could still give you a chance to be considered for Round 2.

If you are worried about late recommendation, don't give up the hope! Good luck to all!
