Hi everyone!

I'm a first time poster, but was hoping those of you who have visited Duke could tell me what sold you on the program? Honestly, why Duke above all others?

Based on my initial research and interaction with alums, Duke was my first choice. However, after visiting and interviewing at several schools (Ross, Kellogg, Kelley), I was least impressed with Duke. I went to the interview weekend in December and enjoyed myself, but I was not blown away by anything, as I was after my other school visits.

Now that I am in I am feeling very torn. Maybe I went on a bad weekend? I was not overly impressed by any of the students I met, but only some students stayed behind for the admissions event because x-mas break had already started.

Anyone want to sell me on Fuqua?

Hi everyone!

What did you like about Kellogg? I went to visit last week and thought that all of the students seem miserable and unfriendly. In both of the classes I went to, only 2-3 students participated and even then they only gave yes/no answers. Just curious if I had an off visit as well.

If you're torn about Duke, just go to Blue Devil Weekend and you'll get a better idea of why everyone loves it there.

I posted this earlier but no one responded and I'm getting nervous.. For R1 admits, at the bottom of the letter there is a link that says click to accept or deny. Do you have to do this?

Got my admissions packet today. It has all the basic info you'd expect, and the flash drive with a couple videos and a PDF with a ton of additional information.

Ugh, I hate regular mail. The post man always leaves packages next to the mailbox in our apartment building. That's just terrific when a guy from my team at work lives down the hall & I don't want anyone from work knowing that I'm going to business school.

Did anyone else out there get a letter from the HSM program yesterday? It was just a single page saying congrats on being accepted into the program, etc - I only found it notable b/c at the bottom of the page it says "Please plan to attend BDW."

I had been planning to attend (really excited to meet everyone and get a fuller idea of what the next 2 years will bring), but there's an off chance I'd have a great opportunity to go on a business trip to Europe for the entirety of March - I had been giving the thought a little credence as I didn't think BDW was mandatory. The note made it sound different, wasn't sure if anyone else had a thought on this.

I was EA, timeframe on this letter is probably different for those in R1. Thanks guys.

I got the letter as well. I don't have it in front of me but I didn't get that sense. Maybe I'll have to read it again though. As for meeting everyone, we have to go down early anyway for the intro to health class.

Something I noticed in the letter was that the say it's the largest health care progam at a top-tier business school. They always put that top-tier qualifier in there. Is there like a 1,000 student health care program at some random school?

I've always thought that they're trying to say they're better than Wharton.

I'm leaning back towards duke over Ross because I remembered that I heart Kevin Schulman (as in I think he's a great director of HSM). I didn't get the impression that they were saying BDW was required either - I don't think they really could require it for foreign students anyhow.

Edited - Duke's admit materials are boring.

I received an envelope as well - less than full but more than I was expecting (i.e. nothing). Are scholarships common with Fuqua?

In my packet I received a merit scholarship that amounts to about a quarter of tuition. I totally had forgotten that they were sending those with the packets and didn't even see it at first. Very excited and pleased with that. Now if only my flash drive worked...
