Why do they have a Round 3 at all? It looks like getting in from this round is something else
I hear this many times from many people, round 3 in Duke is almost for stealing money and increasing the applications pool to appear good in ranking. I hate Duke and hate Fuqua!, strange name anyway,, they kept sending advertisements emails encouraging to apply for the third round! what a cheaters!

MBAseeker2, I am sorry to hear about your frustration. The Duke MBA Admissions are very clear that Round 3 is an exceptionally difficult round to get admitted through. They are quite candid about the higher admissions rates for the earlier rounds.
By the way, the admissions acceptance rates for Round 3 are typically a function of the yield (enrollment) from the earlier rounds, so if there are very few accepted in R3 this year, it's likely because a high rate of admitted students decided to enroll in the program.

Congrats all students admitted in R3! Be sure to join the facebook group for the Duke MBA Class of 2014: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dukemba2014/

Unfortunately, waitlisted folks can hear back in May, June, or even July.
Orientation is August 1-3, 2012.

It looks like the more angry you are, the more you love the school :) third round is the toughest in all the top school even sometime if the candidate is much competitive than the accepted in earlier rounds applicants. if you like the program that much then I strong advice you to apply for the ed next fall. you will get in. it is better to attend the school you like or love.

I have read some people mention they got an updated WL letter who were already on the WL but what does it mean to get no response? Not even an updated WL letter

Don't know how accurate that is. I'm fairly certain you / we'll get an update regardless, especially based on how Duke handles it's waitlist (advisor through the summer etc.).

I just spoke with an admissions advisor and she said that if I was wait listed and did not get a response, I am still on the wait list. She wasn't aware of any wait listers getting "re-wait listed." She also said that in the near future we will be assigned specific advisors. One thing that I was happy about was that she actually had my file in front of her. Before, everyone I spoke with held me at arms length. She also said that if I had not submitted any updates, now is the time to "flood the gates" (her quote).

I see there are quite a number of people who got accepted in R3, that's good news especially taking into account that in R3 apply the strongest candidates.

I'm guessing that the waitlist candidates with an updated letter were R2 applicants that were invited to interview in R3.

Anyways, crossing my fingers here for some good news after the R3 deposit date.
