I noticed that the application's EC section asks for contacts familiar with my involvement. Does HBS actually reach out to these contacts? Hate to reveal my bschool plan to the others...

i doubt it...none of my EC contacts told me that they were contacted. maybe they just want to have something on file in case they find anything suspicious/unclear.

just out of curiosity (and to keep this thread alive before Tue :-D )- for those who interviewed and are waiting for R1 results, how many other R1 apps did you submit and how far alone are you w/ your other R2 apps?

i just managed to do HBS for R1 and have not done much to other R2 apps yet, so this wait is especially nerve-racking...

I'm in the same boat as you - I only applied to HBS in R1. I plan to apply to one additional school in R2. I still have to write my essays for the R2 application so still have a way to go. However, filling out the R2 application has been much faster because I know my overall story, my resume is done, etc. Still, I haven't been doing much for that application over the last few weeks!

I'm sure some people would be horrified with the thought of putting the R2 application off so much, but I'm a "last-minute" type of person...even getting my HBS application done for R1 was a challenge.

I was also interviewed by HBS in R1 and have applied to Stanford, Wharton, Kellogg and CBS (RD) as well. I have finished writing three applications for R2, in case of the worst case scenario.

I would like to prepare more for R2 but I am so nervous about my R1 results that I cannot really concentrate!

I think I remember reading somewhere that the decision comes out at 12 pm EST. Is this true?

Sort of similar situation here. I've finished my essays for Stanford and started on Wharton and MIT. I've also had my recommenders continue working on my recommendations as those take a long time. To be honest, Melody2120, you may be running a little behind now as you will only have 3 weeks left starting tomorrow to make most of the R2 deadlines... That's tight to do essay, recommendations, online form for more than 1 school.

Maybe its just me...

Yea I know...the good thing is that I know I'm not traveling over holidays and work will be very quiet. It's def a bit of a gamble but I wasn't able to concentrate on other apps last weekend when I knew I had one more week to wait...

I believe that was the case last year, but I haven't seen anything official from the adcom this year re timing. Maybe Dee will update her blog tomorrow.

I applied to a few in R1, but HBS was my first. After resolving my story into HBS' tight word limit, I must admit it's been pretty annoying to "expand" it to other schools' word limits. That said, the stories should be fresh enough in your mind to crank out another application pretty quickly, so I wouldn't stress too much about that. Familiarity with the school is another story.

I highly recommend Clear Admit's guides. (No way affiliated to them) They get a little repetitive for some sections, but for $19 they were a great deal for those who cannot visit the schools. A little additional research via the web should give you enough of an idea of a school to tailor your essays.

me too, applied to only HBS in R1. I figure if I need to I can crank out one or two more apps in a few weeks. I'm hoping i won't need to though :-D That would make for a terrible holiday break!

Nope. None of mine were contacted either. Plus, if I remember correctly, you can just put down a teammate rather than the coach, for example, if that helps.
