it does seem to me that most of the people who got interview invites have a more traditional background?

are there any here who have a nontraditional background or career goals?

and can anyone who received invite tell us if your application status changed when you logged in?

Just logged in and my application status hasn't changed. Tomorrow they send an e-mail link to their scheduling system so I guess that runs completely in parallel.

For what it's worth, I do consulting but not management consulting nor IT, more of a niche market really.
If you don't mind me asking, did you only take the GRE and not GMAT? You might be first first-person example that have gotten interview from the big 3.

Yep, I took the GRE - I had been on the verge of starting a PhD at Stanford and then decided it wasn't for me, and stayed at my current company. It finally dawned on me that what I needed was an MBA and not a PhD. So I applied this year instead, with the GRE I had already taken before.

HBS INTERVIEW QUESTION WORTH HAVING AN ANSWER FOR:

What do you think of Occupy Wall St.???? any suggestions?

Not bathing for a few days certainly doesn't improve their job prospects. This just makes things worse: https://blogs.wsj.com/metropolis/2011/10 ... /?mod=e2fb
Can you imagine an OWS protester applying to BSchool this year? That'd be a fun interview to watch/conduct.
SERIOUSLY--that is a dangerous answer to give in an actual HBS interview, no matter what your actual feelings. The "P.C." and correct answer is similar to ones given by Obama, and other dems etc. I understand their 'pain' etc. at job losses, dislocation, and fin. insecurity, esp. kids w. big student loans, etc. They expect you to give a balanced and structured answer to Q like that, altho you are free to finish up w. your own opinion, e.g. maybe not effective but here is what is driving it.

What do you think of this? https://thinkprogress.org/special/2011/1 ... get-a-job/

For what it's worth I have received an invite:

M - 27 - 760 GMAT - 3.5 GPA

Typical background - Management Consulting (Strategy specifically) - but I ensured my industry interest and experience came through on my application.

Australian of Indian heritage

hmm, so even applicants residing in non-interview-hub countries got invites.

damn! speculation is killing me.

anyways does some1 has an idea that those who have dual citizenship (eg. India and US), the applicant will be considered in which pool (Indian or US). I guess primary citizenship will be considered ??

Firstly I don't think they are pooling applicants by citizenship - this would simply create more work for little to no payoff. If they pool at all, it will be by GMAT cutoffs, industry, function or some more relevant measure than citizenship.

Secondly, even by some stretch of logic they are pooling applicants by citizenship, it would stand to reason that they would complete and invite the non-hub countries first, not after. A non-hub applicant needs more time to arrange travel logistics, not less.

Just curious, did anyone with a GMAT under 700 get an invite? Don't mean to hyper analyze the first batch of invites, but just cant help but wonder if any low gmat takers like myself were lucky enough to earn the interview ticket

yeah, its been a tough week for many of us. I plan to go out with my friends this weekend and have a good time, you should too! Focus on the things that make you happy in the next two weeks, that's my way of not going insane in this purgatory

Hey everyone, there is no need to stress this app. out, you can ask 21 questions about who got invited and who didn't, trying to look for the silver lining, but you'll only end up with another 21 questions. If I learned anything in this process, its that an mba is only a step towards my goals, It's not a blocker, nor the only path....With that said, good luck to all.

I agree with the speculation that the more solid applicants were invited first (high gpa and gmat). They probably need more eyes and time to convince each other why the nontraditional ones need an invite. Hence, the delay. It's disappointing to not be part of the first batch, but I think we just need to be positive and not stress over it.
