you guys are honestly worrying too much. you did your part now move on with life and let the cards fall where they may on the 12th. no sense in stressing about what exact time it will come, what you will do, wear, eat, etc on that day...let go and let life.

TOTALLY agree. :-D

Titled: Jack in My Head.

A jumping Jack in my head
Tossing merrily about
Thinking where the cards will fall
To let me in or leave me out.

Lo behold it's February
Black Coffee in my hand
Six cups down my throat already
Thinking where the cards will land.

They say it shall trickle
Throughout till April's on
Shall we take that cue and hold
Jack till our fate's undone?

Tell me friends what chances we have
To fight the superstars on their list?
We are but the little people
With the few shining stars in out midst.

I know this verse is crappy
But this was the best I could compose
The respite shall, or shall not arrive
Via Ms Leopold's eloquent prose.

Till then we tie Jack to a stake
Cut the caffeine in our drink
And lay the jumping beans to rest
While we wait for the mighty guillotine.

Woohooo!

Unrelated to this forum, but, my sis got her Green Card. Which means I no longer care about getting into any the three schools I applied to. It had been going on for like 8 years, so you will forgive my seemingly inappropriate display of exuberance.

The world is right again! Good luck to all!

Also, I visited HBS yesterday. Nice place, surprisingly well administered class room discussion and I was happy to see a truly global discussion on the topic of the day (Insider Trading) - e.g. In Europe (at least until more recently) they didn't prosecute cases that had a small profit, i.e. materiality was by proxy determined through amount of profit.

Woohooo again.

EDIT: I still care! I was a bit too much in the "moment" when I said the above. hehe

Wrote this before - there seems to still be some people freaking out - people really do get interview invites after the first wave. I did not get my interview invite until December of 2009, 2 weeks before the deadline, and I was still accepted.

You have no way to determine why you get an invite when you get one. It could be something as simple as reconfirming your GMAT score, or someone losing a piece of your printout.

Your odds of getting an interview are simple: (# of interviews/# of applications)...because the selection of the second batch of interviews is (apparently) not correlated to the first, your odds are the same through the whole process. You cannot exactly say "Given that 800 of 1000 invites have gone out, and 10000 were submitted, my chance of getting an interview is now 200/9200".

A poet!!! :!:

Never in history has verse ever been a career option for anyone. In the good old days when people (actually the nobility) appreciated poems, the poets had patrons who funded their generally modest lifestyles. Those days are long gone. On the other hand it does strike me that a poem can often say a lot without actually saying it. Perhaps if I had the option of drafting the essays in verse, they might have kept strictly to the word limits imposed and communicated more than what I've managed to do. But those days are long gone too. :-D

Of course you can! The only way for you to really still have 1/10 odds is if 7200 people were also rejected on the same day and you know you aren't one of them. Not everyone is still being considered... and if you don't get an interview in the first wave, the odds that you're in the no-longer-being-considered bucket are substantially higher than they were at the outset.

PS. For anyone reading this and getting concerned, the interview rate is really more like 1/5.
