Brokengod- true, but from what i've read on this forum, interview invites are issued within 2 weeks of the application deadline..so i have pretty much conceded that I won't be going to HKUST this year..Well, I still have 5 more weeks...Hope for the best!

Anyone applying or attending the Shenzhen PT HKUST MBA program? It would be nice to hear from some of you as well. What are your backgrounds and why MBA school in Shenzhen?

I just got accepted into the SZ PT MBA program. I took the GMAT in early March, scored a 710, interviewed with the dean on 4/1 and then got an acceptance offer on 4/9. It was very clear during the interview that the school puts heavy emphasis on what you will do after your MBA. In my case, I already run a offshore software consulting company in Shenzhen but want to get the network and exposure to do more China focused business.

As far as the interview is concerned I don't think there is much to worry about...the interviewers I had are very nice and they don't ask questions to trick me. Basically they just asked me for my leadership experiences and career paths. Just make sure you are very clear about the two.

Hi rishuoberoi and all,

I applied in R3(3/15), and had two interview sessions a week ago.
One interviewer was an alumni, and the other was an admissions officer.
They had friendly attitudes.
At both sessions I was asked only traditional questions like

-Tell me about yourself?
-Why MBA?
-Why HKUST?
-What is your leadership style?
-What is your career goal? Will you change your job after graduation?
-Tell me an instance of conflicts with others. How did you handle it?
-How do you contribute to your classmate outside class room?
-What courses of HKUST MBA are you interested in? finance or marketing?
-Do you have any questions for the HKUST MBA?

HKUST is my first choice,
so I'm waiting for my results, crossing my fingers.

Not sure if this would apply to all interviews, but I was asked a few questions about dealing with Chinese culture as a foreigner, working on a team with both foreigners and local Chinese, etc. "Inter-cultural experience" type questions basically...

One of the interviewers also threw out an interesting question that I wasn't prepared for at first...

- "Which of your recommenders do you most admire and why?"

Admittedly this question caught me off guard, but I was able to answer it effectively since I'm good friends with my recommenders.

thanks brokengod! I was told I should wait for 2-4 weeks (I got my offer 2 weeks after) so I don't think it shows anything bad for you yet...is UST the only sch that u hv applied?

Kool1001 - Looks like I interviewed about the same time as you. HKUST was the only business school I applied for. Appreciate it isn't good practice to just go for the one, but I was quite certain about what I was looking for in a B-school.

Bobvious - my guess is that the assessment committee will look at applications in batches (I have no proof to back that theory

), which is what worries me given Kool1001 received an offer and we were interviewed at about the same time. Still, who knows - it could be on its way on Tuesday...

bobvious23: Have ~4 years w/e in the Sales/Marketing + HR field with markets targeted to the Greater China region. I don't have stellar gmat results like most do on this forum, but I think my solid UG background and interview did helped me positively.

brokengod: I heard UST's been giving out offers since a couple days ago. Accepted candidates should receive their offers on different dates. I think they will keep giving...
