I submitted my application to UTD JSOM on 12/21/2025 in Round 2.

UTD Jindal Interview Debrief – Waiver Candidate (15+ Years Exp)
Status: Interviewed
Format: Video Interview
Interview Experience:
The tone was very candid and truthful. It felt less like an interrogation and more like an honest conversation about my profile and fit. I decided to be completely transparent about my application process, including where I had been successful and where I hadn't.
Key Questions & Discussion Points:
1. The Test Waiver & Other Schools:
• They asked about my "Plan B" and the status of my waivers at other schools.
• My Response: I was open about the fact that schools like Tuck, Darden, and Carlson had denied my waiver request. However, I also shared that I had received waivers from Stern and Cornell. I expressed the philosophy that "every school reviews candidates differently, so one just has to keep trying."
2. Academic & Quant Readiness:
• Since I applied without a test score, they specifically asked how I would handle the quantitative rigor of the program.
• My Response: I walked them through my academic history to prove my quant ability. I cited my previous MBA-level coursework at IIIT and IISc, as well as my Research Assistantship at ISB. I told them confidently that based on this track record, I expect to be a top performer in the class regarding quant subjects.
3. Personal Interests:
• The conversation shifted to my hobbies, specifically my background as an ultra-runner. This helped break the ice and added a personal dimension to the chat.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, it was a positive experience. The admissions team seems to value honesty and a strong track record (demonstrated through alternative coursework) if you are applying without a test score.
