Folks, any ideas if Stern lets you convert a full-time admit into a part-time one? I tried calling them, and the answer I got was that it requires a re-application to the part time program. Anyone heard of a case before where they did convert one without a re-application?

Looks like I'm going to be R2 for Stern. I've just had a ton of stuff going on and haven't been able to my app to where I need it to be. Also, one of my recommenders got really busy with the election (and post-election activities) and wasn't able to get my LOR done.

Do you think that the odds of getting in at Stern are about the same for R1 and R2?

Any idea if NYU Stern allows a buffer for recommendations? My recommender won't be able to submit until early next week :(

From what I was told in the reception, R1 is the same as R2. With their weird process, they will start reviewing R2 before all the R1 decisions are out.

You can convert from full-time to part-time, but converting part-time to full-time requires reapplication. I am not certain you need to reapply to convert from the part-time (a friend did this after his first year due to entrepreneurial exploits).

As for all the essay questions, I don't think the order matters in the slightest, so long as the essay makes sense and is coherent. You all need to be careful not to obsess too much on the minutae.

If that's all that's left to focus on, maybe we're in good shape? 8-)

Looking for an opinion here:

Do you guys think that using MS Visio and designing an electrical circuit (I'm an EE by background) with images and text sprawled throughout is effective for #3? I would PDF and upload the document.

Or should I go with the safe route and write an essay? How creative are you guys getting?

Hey everyone, I've updated the first post (NYU Stern class profile) and would like to get a roll call going on the first thread -- see Wharton and Chicago threads for example.

If you are a moderator and are applying, please add your name to the list. If you do not have moderator priveleges, please add a post to this thread and one of the mods will add your name to the list.

Sterny, I hope you don't mind :)

So it's official that Stern is now more selective than Columbia? :) Gosh, I don't fancy my chances at all.

I'm looking to submit later tonight, but both my recommenders are still MIA (with about 13 hours to go until the deadline), so I'm going to add my name to the roll call only after I've turned in everything.

Personally, I think that the flowchart is a good idea as long as you explain enough about yourself in the process and you aren't just creating it to be different. I went creative with a blurb intro...hopefully submitting in the next hour or so.

Flowcharts can get complicated, with decision boxes, feedback loops, etc. You need to make sure that you don't need to have to create separate legends to define each box within your chart. Same with the circuitry board.

Less than 8 hours to go, who else is going to be cutting it really close tonight? :-D

Please let there be no last minute technical issues!

Good luck solaris. Just submitted 20 minutes ago! Time to celebrate (and then start on the next one tomorrow).

Not sure if this has been addressed...

When I attended an info session, they said that the Feb notification deadline is the LATEST you'll hear back. Does anyone know what sort of time frame they started notifying about interviews/dings last year?
