Mystik742,
thank you. I just cannot stand people being ignorant. I am very tolerant and all of us have the right to express our opinions but I believe that the statement was rude, as well. 640 is not low, first of all, EVEN for a top school. Ross is not my top choice and I got accepted into 5 out of the seven schools I applied to with my score. So now it is up to me to make the decision.
It is the story you tell, your personality and many more factors. I believe that Adcoms read so many stories and only a few stand out. The gmat helps but is truly not the ticket to b-school. Many of my friends are in top schools and had gmat scores ranging from 590-640, including Ross, Booth, Fuqua and so many more! My best friend is in Chicago Booth RIGHT NOW and got in with a 640.
As you said, we are here to encourage each other.
Thanks! And good luck with everything

a 640 may be low but believe me if I tell you that many people with a 640 go to Ross and better ranked school. I got accepted into Ross and others. So it is not only the gmat score.
Those were very nice, consoling words Neferiti, and congrats on being accepted to Ross! Wolverine Fan-that was incredibly rude. As most of the schools say, GMAT score is only a data point-give the guy/girl a break! You have no idea about the other elements of his/her application, (s)he could have an incredible story and work experience. Moral of the story: let's use this board to support and uplift one another, not to judge and make people feel like crap. This entire process is harrowing and stressful enough without having someone who is technically in the same boat looking down at you. Good luck joaonorona and everyone else who is waiting to hear decisions!!
