Round 1 Update
We are in the process of wrapping up our Round 1 decisions. All interview invitations have been extended (except for Consortium interviews; I'll get to that later). If you didn't receive an invitation to interview, it doesn't necessarily mean you will not be admitted. For some, it may mean that we'll reconsider interviewing you in Round 2 or 3.

Our goal is to wrap up Round 1 interviews by December 11 and spend the following weeks reviewing interview reports in concert with the application evaluations. Our office will be closed between Christmas and New Year's.

Will the admission officer notify any applicant in advance about the move to interview in Round 2 or 3? Thanks.

If any one is coming to Ross to visit - I am happy to grab a cup of coffee and chat about the school and experiences. In addition, if you have any specific career interests, I can do my best to bring along a friend with that background or experience...

Feel free to email me at [email protected]

Best of luck with apps!

Just finished my interview this afternoon. Was a phone interview, thankfully I had that option because my plans to visit Ann Arbor again were sabotaged by snow last night! I visited for an admissions event back in October so it wasn't as critical for me to visit this time around.

Very friendly interviewer and the 30 min time limit came very quickly. It was a little over 20 min of him asking me questions and 10 min of the opposite. Questions I remember:

-Tell me about yourself.
-Tell me about your role on a team.
-Tell me about a time when you had a professional failure and what did you learn from it.
-Tell me about a time when you received negative feedback from a supervisor and how did you respond.
-Tell me how you dealt with a team member who was underperforming.
-What 3 adjectives would your friends use to describe you and why?

He was pretty thorough and he seemed to open up with more subtle comments (all positive) towards the end of the interview, especially with the questions I asked him. I felt pretty good about it but now it's the waiting game. Best of luck to everyone else!

Hi All,

The wait is a very stressing time and I was wondering if someone knows what is the acceptance rate at Ross for those who have been interviewed?

Good luck to All!

Per BusinessWeek,

Number of Applicants: 2,697
Percentage of Applicants Interviewed: 55% (I think they aimed for 50% year, if I recall correctly)
Percentage of Students Accepted: 23%

So in my estimation I believe about 42% of interviewees are accepted. So its about 50/50 if you didn't blow the interview

I would say it's more than 50/50 considering than people do blow the interview! :)

I am not sure whether the admission officer will notify the applicant in advance that he / she will be interviewed in the next round or this confirmation will appear in the Ross's web on January 15, the decision date?

Thanks a lot.

FYI from the admission blog...

12/16/2009
December Admissions Process Update

Happy Holidays! I thought I’d share where we are in the admissions process before taking a break for the holidays between December 24 and January 1 (the Admissions Office will be closed during that time).

Round 1 applicants: We have completed all Round 1 interviews. Decisions will be released on January 15th. We do try to share the good news with admitted students a couple days before the official decision notification. Calls and emails are not made in any particular order. For those placed on our waitlist, we’ll be taking another look at your application with the Round 2 applicant pool and update you if there is any change in your status by March 15. There is no need to send additional materials during this time. The exception to this rule is if you retake the GMAT. We will accept new scores until early February.

Round 2 applicants: I’m sure you already know that the deadline is January 5, 2010. We’ll begin inviting applicants for interviews in mid-January, with a goal of completing all interviews by mid-late February. Round 2 is always our biggest application round in terms of volume, so bear with us as we try to get through the reviews prior to interview invites. Keep in mind that interview invites are not made in any particular order, so don’t take that as a sign of how you stack up in our pool.
