I'm also a class of 2010 admit, so if you have any questions, I can answer.
I didn't visit the campus (massive investment despite what people say) because I live in Europe and wasn't ready to pay more than 1500 dollars just to "get a feeling" of the school. With a school with such a reputation, I knew I didn't need that (plus it's in a city, not in the middle of nowhere). On the flip side, it does give you stuff to talk about in the essays, but again that would maybe represent 2 lines in 1 essay and you can get around that by mentioning conversations you had with current students; in short, you have to have some sort of contact with the school, but campus visiting is not indispensable (unless you live 2 hours away, then it's unforgivable of course).
I also didn't go to admit WE; some say it's a mistake but I don't think so. I really hesitated between Chicago and Wharton, and I don't think that a well-orchestrated welcoming / marketing event would have been a fair view of the school. I made my decision based on strong and weak points of both schools (it did take a full month to make that decision though). I did have a tough time securing an apartment though by not being there.

) on Sunday (had a friend's wedding there) and I arrived after midnight at my apartment after not sleeping for 24 hours. Thank God the apartment was furnished. The day after the program started for the internationals with an orientation session beginning at... 8.30am.
