Hi Conrad,

I am applying in the third round of application and have couple of doubts.

1) CGPA- I am a graduate from Delhi University( India) which doesn't a have a CGPA system. I secured between 60-70% in my graduation. Is it equivalent to Second class honours, upper division (2:1) ? If yes, how should I disclose this in my application?
2) A peer referee- Should the peer referee be someone with similar designation as that of mine? Also, can that person be someone from my previous organization? I already have my current supervisor writing one reco.

Would appreciate your help!

R3 deadline is rapidly approaching. I submitted my application a few days ago. Good luck to everybody working on theirs.

If it is of any help then here is what I have done. I am also a DU graduate. I mentioned my marks with the division in brackets and then my rank. On the peer referee - I requested a peer in my former organisation for the reference. I think as long as you worked closely and over a sufficient period of time for you peer to know you well (and can trust that person to provide a realistic description of yourself), it should not matter if that peer is in your current or previous organisation.

Conrad can of course answer your queries in a much more authoritative fashion.

You can read about what I fear some MBA programs will do in 2012 on my latest blog entry.

Conrad,

If I remember correctly, you had voiced similar fears through an earlier blog entry as well. I do feel that good schools are smart enough to realize the pitfalls (which you have so clearly highlighted) of lowering admission standards. I also feel that people who have strong reasons for pursuing an MBA will nevertheless apply even in this uncertain economic climate. I was therefore glad to notice in your blog that the overall applicant quality is still strong though maybe a tad bit weaker than previous years. Learning from your classmates is a very important aspect of a good MBA program and I am sure all applicants would want to be in a class which has high standards and which encourages them to do their best everyday.

Hi Conrad,

I have applied for R3 Cambridge MBA. When can I expect to hear interview decisions? In the forum I have noticed that for R1 & R2 interview decisions were releases within 2 weeks of application deadline. Would it be the same for R3 as well? In the Cambridge MBA website, I can see that for R1 & R2 , interviews were held in India for Indian applicants. What would be the case for R3 shortlists?

Thanking in advance.

Best Regards,
Srinivas

@to2urs

We will send out the interview decisions next week. It is taking us a bit longer than previous rounds because we have received more applications in this round. This is also why there are two interview days scheduled.

We held interviews in Mumbai in December and we don't intend to hold any more in India for this year. It was our first time holding interviews in India for several years now, and I am interested to hear whether December is a good time to hold interviews. Of course, a lot depends on whether I can find a member of faculty who can spare the time (which would usually mean the holidays) to travel on our behalf.

Kind regards.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did not know that Cambridge MBA visited India after many years!
I think the MBA application traffic is maximum during Dec/Jan months in India. At least the various MBA forums' traffic gives me that impression :)

Hope you had good time in India.

Srinivas

Got my interview invite by mail just now.. Anybody from India going to campus?

I am almost surely opting for the on campus interview.. But just in case, does anyone know if the telephonic interview puts you in a disadvantage? I ask because the on campus interview looks like an elaborate event lasting the whole day while the telephonic interview wont be more than 30 mins I guess..

Haivng a phone interview will not affect your chances of admission. It just means that you won't have an opportunity to know more about the school and your fellow interview candidates.

Look forward to meeting you on campus or speaking to you soon.

Kind regards

Hello!

I have applied for R3 and seen some guys here who already got interview invitation via email.
Does it mean that everyone who is shortlisted for interview got email from Cambridge?
If I am denied, do I get any email notification from Cambridge?

Thank you in advance.
