Though i loathe to be the bringer of bad news....i do strongly feel that considering the very low number of invites (1 or 2) that went out yesterday, there are not any more left (if so...they would have been sent yesterday). And we are staring down at the barrel now. The news will come out at 10 AM (CST) or 11 AM EST...that's my guess. I'm deeply depressed and my GSB dreams are squashed for ever :(

Denied. :(

Just that's the end of the GSB dream for me. I just wish I could understand how I could be WL last year and not even interviewed this year. This blows!

this is the worst part of the process. Just remember how competitive these top schools, especially this year. A ding is a tough pill to swallow, but as long as you get one admit, it will be all worth it.

Dear _____,

Thank you for applying to Chicago Booth's Full-Time MBA Program. Your application has received the careful consideration of our Admissions Committee. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you admission to the Class of 2011.

The superb quality of this year's applicant pool presented the Admissions Committee with some difficult decisions. Three members of the Committee reviewed your application in its entirety before our decision was made. Applicants are evaluated on several criteria, including academic preparedness, professional achievements, communication skills, extracurricular/community involvement, leadership, self-awareness, understanding the value of the MBA experience, and fit with Chicago Booth.

We certainly appreciate the effort you put into this process, and we wish you every success as you continue to plan for your future.

Sincerely,

Rosemaria Martinelli

Hey Yellow...

Really sorry to hear about the ding.

Coming into this process, I certainly thought that previous WLers would have a leg up. I guess that isn't the case at all. The more I think about it, the process seems to be very fluid. Without a doubt, Business Schools definitely have the most ambiguous selection process in terms of graduate schools. When I was dinged last year at Kellogg and eventually at GSB, I had a hard time explaining it to friends and family - I was embarrassed to say I didn't get in, but in my heart, I knew that it wasn't because I wasn't qualified - but rather because my background didn't fit that year with the two schools. That is what led me to re-apply this year.

Hopefully things work out for you - did you apply anywhere else? I only applied to GSB, figuring it was my best chance.

Agree with sigity. Not getting an interview invite does not say anything about how qualified you are.

In my case, getting the interview invite this year meant I had to thoroughly review my last year's app and systematically correct all the problems with that app. (Last year, I did not get an interview invite). Anyway, U Chicago may eventually still find me less qualified than the pool and I may not be accepted, but getting as far as an interview invite was a result of seeking honest critiques on my app from last year. All of you still have round 2, and all it takes is one admit. Good luck!
