We had yesterday the Golden Gargoyles, and people are starting to upload the movies:
https://br.youtube.com/watch?v=HUKPigKhn0M

This is not my cohort, but I really think the "bank" scene was brilliant!

Truly brilliant! Made me laugh out loud!
Can you tell us more asbout what the Golden Gargoyles event is?

Each cohort is supposed to develop a 6min movie about anything related to the school. Also every year a company sponsors the event and each cohort creates an advertisement for this company - this year was AMEX.

At the end The Golden Gargoyles is like the Oscar party, and there are categories in which all movies concur Well actually they create new categories every year so that all 8 cohorts receive a Golden Gargoyle  it's really funny, people are uploading it, just keep searching on Youtube.

BOOOOOOOTH!

Kids at your school are definitely smart with pimping your school so hard...Congrats. Better BSB than HBS haha.

I was at the student lounge studying when people started to gather to see the rankings.

Well, from the data, anyone can see the impact that last BW ranking made. Either people like it or not, rankings affect somehow the application decision. BTW, Chicago Booth, or The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, we won't call ourselves BSB   .

For the generous support ($300M) of Dr. David Booth ('71 ), CEO-Dimentional Fund Advisors, GSB named it as BOOTH Graduate School of Business.

I'm interviewing on campus this week. Before I go, here's a question I've been thinking about. In a recent interview I was asked about a time that I led a team. Frankly, I don't have a lot of team-leading experience. My firm just isn't geared toward team projects. I work with people all the time, and it's a very amicable environment, but there aren't any teams to lead. :? Honestly, one of the things I expect to gain from an MBA is more team project experience. Any thoughts on how to address this if it's asked again? I don't think "coaching a softball team" is the answer anyone is looking for. :)

Well, you can tell about leadership moments instead of leadership roles. And yes softball leadership can be an example.

If you want to grab a coffee or to have lunch send me a PVT, and I'll see if I have sometime.

I had one with an alumnus a few days ago. He was very nice and had no surprises under his sleeve - asked the general "walk me through your resume", "Why MBA", "Why Booth" and "Career Plan" questions.

Came out feeling very positive.

Good luck!

I would try to think about an example from outside of work. I use an example of a time I was volunteering. The story is only part of what they want to hear - they are mainly trying to understnad what part you played in a particular team.

Had my Chicago interview yesterday, thought I'd post a quick debrief...

The questions asked during the interview included the usual suspects plus a few different ones:
- Usual suspects: why MBA, why Chicago, why now, short/long term goals, walk me through the resume.
- Different ones: do you see yourself working for a startup, why/why not? What role would you play in the clubs you join? Specifically, why do you like Chicago over other schools?

Misc Observations:
- the Admissions Office front desk staff is super nice - they remembered me from my visit over the summer, asked if I got lost this time too (apparently, I'm developing a reputation for this :P )
- they had current student ambassador types hanging out in the Admissions Office waiting area to speak with students before their interview. Very nice and helpful folks.
- the Admissions Office waiting area was fairly busy before my interview. If you need to do any last minute review/prep, I'd suggest using the couches in the main foyer instead.
- if you're driving there, allow some extra time to find parking. It took me about 20 mins of circling to find a spot a few blocks away. Random guy I met in the Admissions Office said he spent about 45 minutes hunting for a spot. So it can vary...
- the pseudo-Starbucks in the cafeteria is iffy; had the weakest latte there (IMO, save your money and buy something else!)

I thought it went really well, I'm just hoping this translates into an admit!
Hope this helps!
ac.

Great job ac. Maybe the interviewer is currently working on a startup and sees you as a potential employee/partner. You never know if that question was something that the interviewer was required to ask or simply wanted to find out on his/her own.

Thanks for the recap ac. In what context was the start-up question asked?

We had spoken about my resume, my goals, a bit about why Chicago, etc when the interviewer said "So out of curiosity, would you ever see yourself working at a biotech startup? Why/why not?"

Now I don't know if he was supposed to ask that, was curious or what. But personally, I think he asked that to gauge my knowledge of the devices/pharma/biotech industry and how I would see myself fitting into it.
