Invite to Interview: 2/11/08

ACCEPTED: 3/12/08

I hope this helps you. Please contact me if you have any questions about Stern. Throughout the process, they just blew me away with how much they actually cared about the applicant. For example, when you interview, they give you a customized packet of clubs and programs you might be interested in. Also, the interview dives into more detail than most other schools. I was actually a bit miffed with Cornell and Yale for the interview because they did it blind. While one can debate on the merits of doing it that way, I felt with how much time I put into each application that the school should have at least had a person interview you who is familiar with your application.

I had a similar experience nooky. They knew my application inside out, especially my creative app. They have all these nice little touches (e.g. thank you postcard for applying, t-shirt when you visit to interview), which make you feel good about applying there.

I interviewed 5th March, so there is plenty of time yet.

Hey Everybody,

I didn't want post in here after my Cornell Ding and Yale WL (sorry, after many years of baseball I occasionally have weird superstitions!) but was just accepted today.

Here is a bit of my profile:

Age: 24
GMAT: 690
Undergard: 3.66, first year was 2.7, transferred and last three years was 3.91. Not a well-known school...
WE: 1 year of IT (Sys Admin, also worked in Business Development), 1 year of Management Consulting

Tip for NYU: Show enthusiasm! I connected with as many alumni and current students as I could without being annoying. Even though I don't have the most stellar profile, I feel I was able to get in because I was able to show why NYU was the best fit. For example, I visited twice before hearing about acceptance, and kept in touch with every person I met there.

Good luck to everyone, and I hope to see some of you this Fall!

congrats snooky!!!

Glad to finally see some love from Stern!!!!!!!!

Got it 10 minutes or so before my post.

I'm 3/4 with dings so far and the 1 that wasn't a ding was a WL. It seems I didn't do enough to qualm adcomm's fears about my age and amount of work experience.

That's what I'm worried about as well. I'm fearing that with the increase in applications they will especially lean towards chosing older applicants.

are you waiting on any more than just gtown?

Columbia. I actually just got an e-mail this morning that said my status had changed and it made me nervous as hell. But all it said was that my app was under review. I'm pretty much considering Columbia as a ding already anyways considering my success (of lack thereof) at the other schools.

So yeah, more or less, just Gtown. How 'bout you?

I only applied to Stern, Gtown, and UW (foster)--and I haven't heard anything from any of them. I probably should have done more, but it took me so much time to put those together, I'm amazed by the folks who were able to do 5 or 6 aps.

So, I'm thinking it looks pretty bleak at this point, but trying to stay objective about my chances.

Fingers crossed that we'll both get invites to gtown!!

Re: Calling Stern/NYU Applicants [#permalink]
It feels like its been ages since I submitted my Stern application. This is unbeleiveable! Has anyone out of the remaining 6 heard anything from Stern?

Stern has definitely exceeded it's reputation of a hard nut to crack. Did any of the dinged applicants care to schedule a feedback session?
