1. Although I am an engineering graduate, history as a subject intrigues me a lot.
2. I am fond of traveling to beach locations. Due to this I am really eager to explore the 300 mile coastline of North Carolina.
3. When I entered college, elders had advised me to go out of my comfort zone and try new things. Consequently, I went to audition for the Music Club as a drummer without even knowing how to hold the drumsticks! It was an unforgettable experience.
4. I am fond of reading non-fiction books, especially about foreign affairs, autobiographies and India’s past.
5. I started to walk as early as when I was 8 months old. My family was surprised at this and thought that it was extraordinary.
6. Within a week of receiving my driving license, I went for a 400 kilometer drive with my friends. It was risky but things turned out well and we saw the majestic Dudhsagar Falls in Goa, India during our drive.
7. I am a huge fan of the show “Suits”. Harvey Specter being my favorite character from it.
8. As a project in school, I had learnt the Braille language. Following that we had a visit to a blind school where we interacted with visually impaired children and I had taught them basic arithmetic.
9. I have always wanted to compete in Spelling Bee competitions, but as a school kid I was too shy to share this with my teachers or to show up for selections. As a result, I could never participate in it. This is the one regret that I have from my school.
10. I was never interested in outdoor sports, but after watching Lin Dan from China and PV Sindhu from India, I started to play badminton and I still do.
11. I love doing High-intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to keep myself fit.
12. I have always wondered how it feels to view our Earth from space. Given an opportunity I would definitely like to volunteer for a space tour. I was glad to learn that companies like Blue Origin, Virgin Galactic and SpaceX are working on those lines.
13. The Delta variant of COVID infected my family and me. My parents were in a critical condition. I had never felt so sick and helpless too. Fortunately, we all recovered from it. But that incident changed my whole outlook towards life. Spending quality time with my parents and living each day to the fullest has been my mantra after that. It also induced a lot of gratitude in me for the life we’ve got.
14. The diversity within India is well known all over the world. I was born and raised in the northern part of India and I moved to southern India to pursue my engineering. It was a complete cultural turnaround for me and a lot many students like me from North India. I am deeply thankful to my institution to have created such a harmonious environment within campus which inculcated a sense of inclusivity and oneness in me. It made me more adaptable to change. I got to learn about new cultures and practices from students across India and abroad.
15. My mother is my inspiration. She has seen a lot of hardships in her life. When I hear about her troubled past, I can only bow down to the resilience of that lady. She instills confidence in me. Her energy levels and the desire to learn new things even at this age pushes me to give my best, work hard and not fear failure.
16. Tom and Jerry is my all-time favorite cartoon to watch. It is a timeless piece of work in my opinion. It makes me chuckle even now.
17. I am fond of collecting watches and watching videos on horology. I started to collect watches as a 7th grader and the passion only grew from there. At present, I have 11 watches in my collection.
18. I participated in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign of the Government of India in which we had to voluntarily spearhead a flag hoisting event in our community or homes to celebrate 75 years of Indian Independence on 15th August 2022. I organized an event for the same in my locality which was attended by close to 70 people. I received a certificate for it from the Ministry of Culture for this.
19. One skill which I think I have is that of being an effective communicator. I am succinct in what I have to say. I show empathy with the person I am interacting with. Lastly, I am a patient listener. These traits help me to put forth my point of view clearly and even enables me to gain the trust of the other person(s).
20. I'm a sucker for rules. I don’t like to circumvent or break the stated rules to get my task done.
21. I am proud of the fact that I could pay the fees of my final year in engineering college by myself. I had earned that sum of money through my internship.
22. I had been a vegetarian until the age of 18 by choice. Having moved out of my house for college, I started eating non vegetarian food and there has been no coming back since then! I personally love eating chicken.
23. I was very active in what was called the “Mental Math Contest” in our high school. It was an annual event and I had won it for three consecutive years along with my team.
24. When I started preparing for the GRE, I had promised myself that I am not going to just learn new words for the sake of the test. I have kept that promise as I have imbibed a lot of words into my vocabulary. I use them in both- verbal and written communication.
25. Although I don’t overemphasize on my sartorial choices, I am very particular about my shirt collars! I like them crisp, standing and in place.
