More than 30 years ago, Dr. Barbara McClintock, the Nobel Prize winner, reported that genes can "jump,"
as pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another.(A) as pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another
(B) like pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another
(C) as pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others
(D) like pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others
(E) as do pearls that move mysteriously from one necklace to some other
Hi,
In this question, as far as I understand, in options A and B, the comparison is between "genes can 'jump'" and "pearls". Then how is B correct(OA). I thought clause can be compared to clause only.
In C D E, "genes can jump" is compared to "pearls do".
Why E is wrong?
I understand that Dis wrong because of like and C is wrong cause "that" is used incorrectly.
Are there any other reasons why C and D are wrong.
Kindly explain.
Thanks
