Hi, I gave the gmat recently and submitted my score to be reported to the selected programs right after the exam. However, after much thinking I realized that it would be futile and the score is nowhere close to the average of the programs i selected. Is there a way to cancel the score a few hours or days after giving the exam? Is it good to have a cancelled score than having a low score on your offical score card?

Since Business Schools don't care if you take the GMAT more than once, there's no harm in having this score in your profile. Assuming that you score at a higher level on your next attempt, you will actually have the basis for 'theme-ing" your application - you don't give up, you overcome challenges, etc.
For the record, how did you score (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)? Those numbers will make it easier to determine what you should be focused on and if you should be working with specific resources for your next attempt at the GMAT.

Thanks for the reply. I had also emailed the gmat guys itself and they replied back that it cannot be cancelled and the scores get processed and sent to the programs almost immediately.
I scored 630. I studied last two months for the exam(average 1 to 2 hours a day since i am a working professional). But when i look back, i realise that my main focus was getting through all the chapters and topics for the gmat and thereby had very little practice. My weak areas are IR and verbal. Quant I do well, just need more practice to improve speed.
I just need more practice.
