Hey everyone,
Just thought I'd ask for some advice here as I will be taking my GMAT pretty soon. Thus, I wanted to be prepared in terms of my game plan on what to do with the score I may get come test day.
I'm aiming to hit the 700's (720/730) - but understand that sometimes this might not be possible especially during the 1st take. So I'm planning to re-take again if I don't hit this score range. Let's say I get a 650-690. Should I submit, and re-take again (so it will show up in my record); or should I cancel and just potentially re-instate in case I may not hit my target score in the next few months. The additional $50 to reinstate a score is also not an issue for me.
Which route would look better for applications in terms of the GMAT Score? Are there any hidden repercussions with either route/etc...?

Hi and Good luck on your upcoming GMAT!
I am hoping you will be able to hit your target score. However, if you do not, you are welcome to cancel. I have heard theories going both ways - stating that having multiple scores on the score report show commitment and greater determination while the other group arguing that having a single strong score indicates a person who got the job done the first time. The arguments have gone multiple ways and frankly, it does not seem to have that much bearing on admission. I have not heard anyone come back and say "Dang, I wish I had reinstated that 650" or "Dang, I wish I did not have that 650" on my score report. Never heard that

Firstly, I wish you all the best.!
Secondly, I suggest keep a +/-20 points in your head. For example, if your target score in your mind is 700 then the range of 680 to 720 should be acceptable to you.
Thirdly, A college won't reject just because you are 690 instead of 700. There is so much more to the story.
