Hi,

One of the most competitive exam to make a good career in MBA is through GMAT. Getting admissions in top ISB schools is a challenging part. I suggest you to make a study plan from ISB Alumni for GMAT to crack ISB. There are some popular GMAT tutors in Hyderabad providing and GMAT online tutorstraining. Also go through the books "The official guide for GMAT Review", daily check online study materials, mock tests, and practice daily for quant. By the way attend live sessions offered by ISB alumni to get more in-depth preparation knowledge.

All the best.

Hi Cooper123,

You've defined the specific area that interests you, which is good, so now you have to do a bit of research so that you can properly define your plans:

1) Do you know which Business Schools offer what you're looking for?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School? Do you know the application deadlines for the Schools that interest you?
3) Assuming that you take the GMAT, what is your goal score?

Hi, I took GMAT few days ago and got a score 530(q 45 v 20). I am not sure what should I do. I have taken extensive test series, prepared for GMAT more than one year but saw a median score 520.

I am not sure if I should sit for GMAT once again. But again I am not very hopeful to jump a high score.

I have 5 years of IT experience in development and consulting area. I have an average past career, but I have a number of extra curricular activity.

My question is "Can I get a decent MBA college with this score?" I am not targeting the top MBA programs. If I can then kindly advise how I can make it possible. Please help me with your valuable suggestion.

Please let me know which MBA programs I can look for with this score?

Hi arunavamunshi1988,

Before we talk about which Schools you should apply to, you seem convinced that you can't raise your GMAT score, and it's not clear why you think that. Since the GMAT is a predictable, standardized Test, you CAN train to score at a higher level. It sounds like you just haven't used the right resources yet. So if you're still interested in trying to improve your Official GMAT Score, then you should let me know.

The average score on the Official GMAT hovers around 540-550 most years, so you have a score that is essentially 'the average.' Since the application process includes several pieces (including Work Experience and Essays), you can 'make up for' a lower GMAT score if you properly present yourself to the Admissions Committees.

The process of applying to (and ultimately attending) a Business School involves a significant investment of time, money and energy on your part, so you really need to think about which School/Program matches what YOU want out of having an MBA (as opposed to just applying to a School that is likely to accept you). Here are some things to think about:

1) Is there a particular company that you want to work for or industry that you want to work in? Certain degrees are more appropriate than others if you have a specific career goal.
2) What do you want your MBA to do for you?
3) Do you want to go to School full-time or part-time?
4) Are you willing to relocate? Are you comfortable with working through a program that is primarily online?
5) Are you going to be applying for scholarships?
Etc.

It's okay if you don't have answers to any of these questions just yet. However, you really need to define as many of these details as possible, so that you can pick a degree that matches what YOUR needs.
