Hello,

I am an engineer working in a Public Sector Undertaking (Power Sector). I have been associated with the Project Management Team of a Hydro Power Project since the last 4.5 years (total work ex as well). It seems like I have reached a plateau in my current job. I have always wanted to work in environment and sustainability.

Is it wise to prepare for GMAT given that my academics are way average? Will I be able to able to convert to ISB or IIM A/B/C with a good GMAT score? I plan to give GMAT in Nov-Dec 2022.

Target for 740.. if you get 740, you can easily get ISB or IIM A/B/C and get into executive program.

Median score for ISB is 720... and those for IIM A/B/C are 700.

At 740, you will have great chance to get your dream college...
Best of luck

Thank you Sir/Ma’am for your inputs.

well it all boils down to the fact of what are your long term & short term career goals , considering that you are an engineer with an experience of 4.5 years , do you want to switch into roles and work in the management line if the answer is yes then you should prepare of gmat and get into a b school , whereas if you want to continue working in the technical line as an engineer then you can either prepare for GATE or GRE and pursue a M.tech course .
wish you the best

Thank you for your inputs. I already have a MTech Degree. I am looking for a change in my job profile as there is so less career growth in the PSU I am working for.

Hi Ambivert16,

Sorry for late reply.

It is quite understandable on what your thoughts are regarding career growth in a PSU. For most candidates, location is also a concern.

There are large number of candidates with similar background as yours who go through this journey of preparing for GMAT and getting admitted to MBA colleges, every year. Your past academics are no way related to your potential of getting a decent score. You just need to prepare with best of your potential.

Target a 700+ GMAT score and then you will be ready to prepare for next vital steps - applications and interview.

Best of luck for your efforts and do register on our website if you require some free counseling.
