Hi

I'm a Singaporean, currently working in a Mexican startup and plan to apply for R1 in 2018. I've been working here approx 2 years (total WE of 36 months) and recently have gotten selected for MBB interviews in Mexico. here's my question(s):

should i take this job with MBB before I apply for my MBA?
wouldn't it require me to push back my MBA?
or would it add more value to my application?

Any advice on the matter would be highly appreciated!

thanks

Hi @startupguy! Thanks for your question-- And the answer depends mostly on you and what you see as your future. But if you have dreams of MBB and you have an offer to do that-- I think that is a great opportunity! I'd consider it seriously as once you are in B school with the weight of MBB on your resume... lots of other options- or the return to MBB becomes much easier. Just going to be School is not a fast track to MBB as you know the competition is fierce-- so if you have the MBB option now-- and you want to explore that as a career option- I think it is worth a bit of a delay-- and who knows- if you do well there they may even fund or help fund your MBA at the right time. In the meantime-- you can practice to rock the GMAT so when you do go to B school you are the TOTAL package of great work and great stats.

Do you want to do consulting post-MBA? Will this career path support your post-MBA goals. If so, then you should def go for MBB now even if you delay. The only hesitation would be if you're an older candidate. But generally this move would help both your current and future career and chances with admissions to an MBA program
