I am currently in Marketing for a small academic publishing company. I want to go into MC post-MBA but I am not sure how I can clearly link my past experience with Management Consulting (although I know why I want to go into it). Has anybody here gone from Marketing into MC or been accepted to a top program with that path? How did you articulate a link between these two different areas?

I assume you are talking about how to articulate it for an application to graduate school, not yet articulating it in a cover letter for a job...
I wasn't in marketing, so take this with a grain of salt but.... I think there are many ways to tie it in. The easiest, in my view, is to highlight that, at its core, you are solving problems - likely specific problems, but nonetheless, your job is to look at a situation which is unclear, or for which data may or may not be available, and identify growth strategies.
What makes consumers purchase my product? How can I increase revenues? What strategies will be well recieved by the market and difficult for my competitors to replicate? What sustainable competitive advantages can I develop that will grow my product line faster?
This isn't all that different than what consultants do, consultants just do it on a broader scale - the problem might be people related (eg human capital) or IT related, or financial or product based, but you already have the fundamental building blocks of being a successful consultant - now you need an MBA education to get the other skills necessary - a deeper understanding of HR, finance, strategy, etc.
Anyway, if that doesnt help, tell us why you want to do MC, im sure we can find a nice tie in.
That said, keep in mind that you dont have to prove to the adcom that you would be good at MC.... you only need to show that you are interested and have thought about the career path well.

To complement what Rhyme wrote, if you want to get into MC for the summer or full time, you'll be fine. MCs take people from virtually any pre-school background. You'll need to convince them that you like the job and need to do very well at every single case they throw your way, but your background won't keep you out. Just make sure you go to a school that will help you get an interview and prepare thoroughly.
