Must be C.

If,before the study, people who were about to take the VitsPlus, had the same level of alertness as that of average people then certainly its VitaPlus that increased the alertness.

OA iS E. Explanation is - E makes sure that nothing else caused the result..

BTW, This is from NovaTest.. I had similar problem wiht one of their other questions also.. I would also choose C..

This is a very ambiguous question.

What if manufacturer knowingly selected volunteers having high levels of energy then there is no thruth in the claim of the advertisement.

I also don't know much about NovaTest and this is the first time I am hearing about them.

very weird. C and E are very close, but I think C is the correct one. I agree with ps_dahiya.

The duel is between C and E.

C - shows that the volunteers on whom the experiment was conducted had the same energy levels as the average reported by the health commision.

E - shows that volunteers given a placebo showed no increase in energy levels. Could be a reason to support the advertisement. But the question still remains whether the volunteers who showed increase in energy levels were in level playing field with the volunteers given placebo.

Hence will go with C

Should be C

I think E will only come into the picture if the question required one to strenghthen the argument that Vita-Plus is the only thing that makes people energetic.

With the current question, E seems to be out of scope ...

I went for E.

E says that nothing else than the drug is responsible for the higher reported energy level. Those who took the placebo didn't know about it, nonetheless reported no higher level.

C. says that those who have taken the drug reported later an higher energy level than at the beginning. That means that self-suggestion could have been the trigger and not the pill itself.
