As for the contents of the letter, again, it depends on your current status (waitlist vs. future applicant). Who is also submitting this letter? Is it you? Is it someone on your behalf?

It is for the general application for the deferred enrollment program. I am a current applicant that submitted my application about a week ago. The deadline was yesterday. An alum/donor is submitting the letter in support of my application.
