CBS informal letter of support

Hi,

When someone is submitting an informal letter of support for Columbia Business School, where do they send the letter? Directly to the CBS admissions email? What should the letter include?

Is this part of a waitlist or the normal application process? If the former, there should be instructions provided in the waitlist email/letter. If the latter, you need to contact the Admissions Office directly to see what their current process is for submitting additional materials.

As for the contents of the letter, again, it depends on your current status (waitlist vs. future applicant). Who is also submitting this letter? Is it you? Is it someone on your behalf?

Please contextualize the ask so we can properly advise you.

It is for the general application for the deferred enrollment program. I am a current applicant that submitted my application about a week ago. The deadline was yesterday. An alum/donor is submitting the letter in support of my application.

You will need to contact the Admissions Office about such a letter. Has it been pre-approved by the committee? If not, it may not count as these schools are VERY strict about what they will consider and not.

If this alum/donor is influential, he may have to go through whatever contacts he has at the AdCom or the school to get this in the right hands. Otherwise, it might get filtered out if not dealt with appropriately.
