How much will having passed CFA L1 be a benefit for MSF applications?

In the US, it usually benefits your application the most if you are a non-finance UG, had a weaker GPA or have a strong application, but are applying to a very competitive program. It is a good thing to have on your resume, but I would rank it behind GPA, GMAT and UG reputation. L2 has much more weight, but I would focus on other aspects of your application first.

Thanks for the reply. I ask because I have passed L1, but I have a poor GPA. Haven't written GMAT yet, but should be able to score 650+ easily based on how I am scoring now. Lastly, I am at a top 100 school in the world, top 5 in Canada, but the econ program isn't very reputable.
