Hi,
I just finished GMAT and now can truly start planning for the arduous journey ahead. So in short how am I looking for my targets? Btw I will apply in fall 2022 for 2023 in R1 so I am about 10 months away. I want to preface I am Indian by ethnicity but Canadian by citizenship, so I am going to pray to god that I come under the Canadian bucket (PLEASE BURST MY BUBBLE IF I AM WRONG)
Academics:
Undergrad: Top school in Canada (Almost all are the same University of Waterloo for those concerned). Undergrad in Math and Stats. 3.65 GPA but in my last 3 years 3.95. I had 2 **** semesters.
Grad school: Masters in Financial Engineering from top US School (Think CMU, Berkeley, etc)
GMAT: 760 Q50 V42
Work Experience:
1.5 Years as a Quantitative analyst at a Reinsurer
1.5 Years as a Equity Derivatives Structurer at a Bulge Bracket Bank (Sales And Trading) doing Insurance related Structured product development
For the past 1.5 years I have been working at a Reinsurer again and will continue to do so till joining a program. I am a quant again here.
Volunteering:
Not much but:
6 months driving and engaging with elders in the community during COVID (Think Meals on Wheels stuff)
6 Months of Tutoring underprivileged kids. Will continue to do so for the next year. So will tack on another 9-10 months of experience here.
Ethnicity/Nationality:
So I am Indian by birth but I am a Canadian Citizen and basically lived here my entire adult life and significant schooling. So do I count as a Canadian or Indian?
Goals:
Simple. IB.
Targets: Booth, Columbia, Wharton
Safety: Stern, Johnson (Cornell)
Best!
