Hello Folks,

I know there's a lot of blogs and posts about the chances of admit in R2. But I couldn't find a convincing answer to this question.

I couldn't submit my app in R1 for the T10-15 schools. I am currently targeting to submit my app in R2.

Would my chances of admit (with a scholarship) decrease in Round 2?

Have to choose between submitting in R2 vs waiting for another year.

Hello naven,

Thanks for your query.

There is a drop in acceptance rates in Round 2. However, we do not think you should worry about it too much especially if you feel like you have a strong application in place anyway. Whether you should wait until the next year would depend on various factors - age, years of experience, and what more you will really add in the next 6-8 months to your overall profile.

Hope this helps.

All the best!

naven hope this finds you well

Yes, your chances would reduce somewhat, especially if you are part of an over-represented population. If you aren't, the difference is negligible. If you have a generally balanced overall profile and have worked hard on your application, you should apply with a positive mindset. You won't know the outcome unless you take action. Having said that, there is no one correct response to this topic because your profile (growth trajectory, future potential), Test performance, and the quality of your essays are the most important predictors of your success at top 10-15 institutions. Without the specifics of your profile, one can only presume the best.

Best wishes
