Help.
I am seeking help from all the admission experts/ those who have gone through the process. Here is the situation:
I applied to many business schools R1 and even gone through an interview with one of the schools. I'm still waiting to hear back from the other schools for interview invites (fingers crossed.) However, today, I was told I'm being laid off due to business reasons and my last date will be in mid-November.
This news in itself is pretty overwhelming, but the fact that I am in mid-application season complicates things. I brainstormed following implications of my recent developments (let me know if I've missed something):
1) I need to find a new job quick to ensure I don't have a gap if I were to apply to more schools in R2 (not to mention write an explanation.)
2) If I am admitted in R1, I may run into problems when adcoms run a background check on me. E.g., why in the world did I quit in November?!
3) Even if I do find a new job relatively quickly (before admit invite), I may need to inform admissions of my new job.
So here are my questions:
1) If I find a new job, do you think I will need to let admissions know of my new job?
2) Whether I find a job or not, do you think background checks will hurt me? I still had my job when I submitted my application, and will still have my job as I'm going through interviews.
Let me know your thoughts. I am in need of dire help.
Thanks.
