AkankshaBlahblah:
I would not worry since six month is not too bad. Plus, what can you do about it? You can't switch jobs again and you won't not disclose where you are working now just for continuity purposes - this cake is baked. There are two options:
(1) Address this head-on in either your optional essay (which seems appropriate given the move was made for personal reasons) or in your careers essays, where appropriate. As long as it comes off as legitimate, it should not be a big deal at all. Additionally, the schools assume you'll be in this role for at least another year prior to matriculation, so it's not as if this is a real short-term stint.
(2) If you are really, really concerned, apply for R2. You can get started now as if you were applying for R1 so you don't lose time on application creation. The applications themselves obviously do not change. This would give you another few months to accrue time at your current job. In all honesty, that might not make a huge difference and delaying a round has its own complications, but it's an option on the table you can explore.
One other thing to note, is you probably need to come up with a smart strategy regarding your letters of recommendation. That is a little trickier with limited time at your current role.
Please reach out to us if you'd like to discuss more and/or if you need help with your applications specifically around crafting this narrative!
