But you always have that what if in your head. As with school, why do a lot of us apply to HBS or Stanford even though we all know we won't have a shot at getting in? It's so we don't have the "what if I applied, could I have gotten in?? " mentality. What if you get don't get that job you wanted out of school? Will you be happy with your decision then? Will you be okay with living with the what if I went to Booth scenario would things be different?

Just another thing to think about.

I just want to bring ideas to the table for you. I don't even know what I would do in that situation. Frankly, I am glad I am not in that situation because it must be really hard to decide.

Your questions reminded me of this video. Basically make your decisions with what you know now, and run with it without looking back.

I think the what if argument was what impacted Helg's decision in the end. He had his heart set on Chicago, and when he got it and Ross' full ride, he had a tough time deciding. But as I recall (and maybe someone can find the thread?) the primary issue for him was that if he didn't go to Chicago he'd always wonder 'what if'.

Today I went to the Cirque du Soleil with a friend of my class of 2010, and I found out he was also admitted at Ross with $ and decided to come to Chicago with no dough.

His reasoning was about his wife, he told me she would be crazy living in Ann Arbor. So I guess is more about a personal stuff. Anyway, if anybody wants, just give me a PVT, and I can give the contacts of both Helg and this guy so that you take your own conclusions...
