Coffee R 24 pounds, coffee P 25 pounds. Mix these two kinds of coffee to produce mixture X, in which the rate of RtoP is 4:1; and mixture Y, in which the rate of Rto P is 1:3. What is the amount of mixture Y?

R1/P1 = 4/1
R1 = 4P1

R2/P2 = 1/3
R2 = P2/3

R1 + R2 = 24
P1 + P2 = 25

Solving, we get P1 = 4.2
Therefore R1 = 4P1 = 16.8

Mixture X = 16.8 + 4.2 = 21

Therefore you mean Mixture Y = 29.4
