I am having a problem with collective nouns. When we want to emphasize the collective group, the verb is single.
The family is large.
What if we want to mention a member or the group doing something? or a fraction of the group doing soemthing? or each of the members doing something individually?
OG exmaples would be helpful. thanks

In a sentence that uses collective noun: if everyone in the group is doing different jobs or if each individual in the group has to be addressed then use Plural verb
If everyone does a job in unison then use Singular verb
If everyone does a job in unison then use Singular verb

Which one(s) is/are correct?
A group of lawyers is going to the movies.
The group of lawyers is going to hold a meeting.
