Columbia EMBA's Essay and Rec Questions, 2019-2020!!! The Admissions Season Is Underway!Columbia Graduate School of Business has updated its website to reflect new EMBA essay questions for the 2019-2020 admissions cycle. The questions remain the same as last year, except Essay 3, which presents an entirely new topic. The CBS website also indicates that the recommendation questions remain unchanged from last year. The essay and recommendation questions appear below.
Now that you know the essay questions, you can get started on preparing your CBS EMBA application! You can submit your EMBA application as soon as early August, since the online application form is scheduled to go live in early August. Columbia uses a rolling admissions process, whereby the admissions committee reviews applications as they are submitted, so candidates can often enjoy a positive benefit from applying early, when most of the seats for the incoming EMBA class are still available.
For Columbia, you must take a standardized test – the Executive Assessment (EA), GMAT or GRE. Many candidates find that the EA requires less preparation time. Last year, Columbia indicated to many candidates that an EA score of 147 or above would be fine. Just bear in mind that the ideal EA score can vary based on a candidate’s profile. An EA score of 150 is generally a safer score for candidates of all profiles.
