Columbia Invites Engagement with Its EMBA Programs

For candidates seeking more information about Columbia’s EMBA programs, the school provides plenty of opportunities to “engage” and get to know the programs and the school better. Recently, they made applicants aware of some opportunities, listed below.

Just remember, when you attend such events at most top business schools, you should act as if you are being interviewed. Sometimes alumni members or admissions committees take note of a candidate’s name and record their “impressions” – notes that can end up in your admissions file! Likewise, if you plan to hand out your resume at an event such as these below, make sure you have revised it to be an outstanding application resume. Application resumes differ somewhat from job resumes and should be tailored to present the credentials that top business schools value and evaluate when determining admission.

Here are some in-person events you can attend:

Connect with Admissions
Every Saturday at 1:00 PM/Select Fridays at 2:00 PM
Admissions officers are available on Saturdays between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on campus for one-on-one meetings (no registration required). Admissions officers are also available on select Fridays in midtown Manhattan. You can register for Friday meetings on the CBS website.

EMBA Information Sessions
Select Saturdays at 10:15 AM
You can go find out more about Columbia Business School and the Executive MBA programs at an information session. There, you will have the opportunity to speak with admissions officers and current students or alumni.

Special Event: Experience EMBA-Americas
Thursday, September 12 at 10:00 AM
This event allows applicants to learn more about the EMBA-Americas program through a panel discussion with a member of the admissions team and recent EMBA-Americas alumni. The event also allows applicants to join current students for lunch and sit in on a popular class entitled “Managerial Negotiations.”

Special Event: Spotlight On EMBA Academics
Saturday, October 19 at 10:15 AM
This event, Spotlight On EMBA Academics, focuses on the academic curriculum and experience in Columbia’s Executive MBA programs. This on-campus event will feature a representative from the EMBA Academics and Student Affairs team, and a group of alumni sharing their experiences and insights.

Special Event: Spotlight On EMBA Community
Saturday, November 9 at 10:15 AM
This event, Spotlight On EMBA Community, focuses on key aspects of the student experience – from the cluster system to the international seminars. Kelley Blanco, Associate Dean of EMBA Programs and Dean of Students, is scheduled to speak on student life, and a group of alumni will share their insights and experiences. Attendees will have an opportunity to chat with admissions officers and alumni.

You can also visit the Columbia Business School website for additional admissions events.
