Might be a dumb question..

but on the application, if it asks for community service activities.. does this mean your current activities?

Does this exclude extra -curricular activities in college? Like student government, etc.?

Also, the application asks for 'hours' per week in each activity. I teach 6th grade students, but I do it once in the fall and once in the spring.. so the committment isn't every week. Not sure what to put for hours per week.

Which application?

The ones I've looked at have been more focused on Community Involvement, which can mean both the softball league and do-gooder stuff, like tutoring. I am assuming they would want both current and recent activities, but don't know if they mean just "service."

Also, all of my applications had separate places for college activities and post-college. I am surprised that this one doesn't differentiate.

Does the form give you a choice for hours per week/month/year? Do you have to fill in a field that is labeled "hours per week" or are you typing up a bit of a narrative? If that's the case, you could probably just say "10 hours per year" and leave it at that. I doubt they're wed to the number per week - they just want to know how much time you invest.

Thanks for the reply..

This is the notre dame application. Its a little strange, it does not distinguish between college and post college. Which is a little disheartening because I wanted to harp on my college activities..extra essay maybe?

There is absolutely no space in the text box to list anything but two digits!

Also, under the undergrad section, I have to pick my major,but I have a double major so not sure how to handle that. They will have my transcript i guess, so I'm probably whining about nothing..

that's lame that there is no space for two majors. Extra points to Cornell for doing that much.

Yes, they'll see it on your transcript. I was all dis-heartened about some of the limitations of the forms I filled out, and then decided that they created the forms and were probably prepared to deal with the slight discrepancies that may be caused by the lack of pertinent details.

Re: Activities. If they don't diferentiate, put in whatever you've got. They didn't ask, so I think you should be able to put what you feel is most pertinent and/or shows you in the best light.

I don't know what to say about your tiny two-character field. Just slap in a one? how would it average out? .5 rounds to 1.....
