(A) wrong comparison
(B) the same
(C) the best
(D) a problem with a pronoun its
(E) double are is wrong, the underlined part is a run-on sentence.

I still vote for C

1 ?

As Stolyar points out, in (1), the sentence is comparing the "nuclear arsenal" with "the Soviet Union".

Hi,
The answer is apparently A. I think C is the best ans too ( but according to the answer sheet I was wrong) If anyone can come up with the best fit as A - pls explain.
Else the answer in my workbook is wrong.

A is certainly wrong, for it compares zebras with oranges. Burn your workbook down. :bouncer2

Answer must be 3 (C) because it makes a balanced comparison.
