Conditional Verbs - which will be correct

Question

Hi

Which of the following is the correct form and why

If i go to the theatre, I will eat popcorn.

If I will go to the theatre, I will eat popcorn.

Kindly explain

The  if part  ("If I will go to the theatre" in this case) can never have a  would  or a  will .

So, second is incorrect.

Hi Ashish.

Using "never" there seems a little too strong.

Here's an example in which "would" works in the "if" clause.

If he would be willing to help us, then I think the project will succeed.

I don't know of one, but it seems possible that the GMAT would use such a variation to test understanding of the implications of and attention to context.
