Sounds like they want the MGMAT team to keep doing what they're doing, but they brought Kaplan in since Zeke is too busy with his other projects. If Kaplan won't meddle with MGMAT, then how will bringing them in help make up for Zeke's absence?
Either Kaplan will get very hands-on (and possibly take it in a direction that MGMAT wouldn't have gone on its own), or not be hands-on at all, in which case that can't be the reason why MGMAT sold to Kaplan.

Having gone through an acquisition at work (the company I work for was acquired by Blackstone), acquisitions do not happen unless the other party sees value, and there is no value from running the two companies independently, so the premium Kaplan paid for MGMAT will have to be paid back somehow through some synergies, joint operations, etc. I don't imply that it will be better or worse for test-takers but things will definitely not be the same.
