Ok let's break it down one by one.
Intro: Indian 28F want to pursue MBA from abroad or India. Retaking GMAT.
Background in developmental journalism, 6 yrs work ex, sizeable volunteer work.
Financially weak, middle income family, can't afford fees beyond $70,000 without loans/scholarships.
Post MBA goals: Marketing Management
1. Really keen on applying to INSEAD and HEC Paris, Cambridge Judge, ESADE, ESSEC
2. Also applying to ISB in R2 (but half heartedly, though already paid a consultant coz I was afraid and confused)
Now I am confused beyond anything. Should I apply to ISB in R2? I want to apply to other schools in R2 as well but for INSEAD I want to apply in R1 for Jan'25 intake.
Please help me out with realistic chances, things to consider and the school that will give me best chances to have a great career in Marketing. (I honestly don't want to get into Consulting or Finance)
Not applying to US schools coz can't afford and no long term plans to settle there.
Please help me out. I am going frantic after talking to alumni, discussing with consultants, getting opinions of Reddit subs and here and what not.
I am not able to focus on GMAT study while I have the test in 20 days.

Hi,
First of all get everything else out of your mind and focus on GMAT. You will need a GMAT score for every b-school where you apply and a low scores alone can put a spanner on your MBA plans.
Now regarding your ISB application- I think ISB will be a great program if you want to move into marketing. Typically its difficult to make the move to marketing if you do your MBA abroad as those roles tend to go to local students or students who have past experience working in those regions. For an international student, getting into marketing roles is difficult especially if you have no prior experience. From this perspective, you may find it easier to transition into marketing out of ISB. So my suggestion here is to apply to ISB in any case.
Another point to consider is, which geography do you see yourself settling in after MBA? If the objective is to move abroad, then an MBA outside India can be a great option for you. You may have to reconsider your goals in that case, especially for European MBAs. Also, keep in mind your career goals should have some links to the work you have done so far. For example, Have you dabbled in marketing in your current role or have you got the transferrable skills needed to make the shift?

First of all, take a deep breath. It's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed with all the information and opinions out there, but remember, this journey is yours, and you're already doing great by seeking out information and planning ahead.
Definitely go ahead with your ISB application in R2. Your background in developmental journalism, coupled with your significant work experience and volunteer work, makes you a unique candidate. ISB is known for its strong marketing placements, so it aligns well with your post-MBA goals.
20 days is indeed a enough to make a improvement in your score, especially if you focus on your weaker areas. It's important to approach this period with a clear and positive mindset. Try to let go of the stress and pressure, and instead, focus on the learning process. Remember, GMAT is as much about understanding the test strategy as it is about the content. Identify the specific areas where you need improvement, whether it's certain types of quant problems or verbal reasoning, and concentrate your efforts there. Utilize practice tests to gauge your progress and adapt your study plan accordingly.
