Hi,
First let me introduce myself, I am a software tester with almost 4 years of experience and I am currently working in Bangalore, I wrote my GMAT in January 2011 and scored 700(Q:43 V:42). I had not done too much research on an MBA earlier and even after writing my GMAT I was confused about the reasons to do an MBA and even about which specialization would suit my profile
, so, if any of you can guide me on how an MBA enhances ones impact in their profession, I would get a better idea on whether I should go ahead and apply for an MBA

There are lots of reasons to get the MBA degree. Mostly, it's a way to learn higher level business knowledge and get access to jobs which require the use of that knowledge. If you feel you have gone as far as you can go in your current career and think you would like higher level responsibility, better pay, and a virtually unlimited horizon in terms of how high you can climb or rise within an organization, the MBA is for you. One strategy is to reverse engineer your career and think about where you want to be 5 or ten years down the road. If it's in a position or company where most people doing that job have MBAs, then you are on the right track. If not, perhaps you don't need it. Hope this helps.
