So you you have a brand new job.
You were an engineer/analyst/janitor in a Fortune 500, but now you are Big Billy Bob Manager at Start Up XYZ.
The money is good, the position better. You're pulling all nighters and you're family is starting to forget you.
You are now ready for business school.
The school wants to know that your rockstar butt will get placed safely in the elite companies' rockstar chairs - you are not a liability.
Repeat after me - "I am not a liability".
But wait - if you're such a rock star - why do you need an MBA? If its so damn plausible that you're gonna get hired by ShoeShine Inc. - what will the B-school really add?
This is the career goals trap. Too far, and you land on your nose. Too close and you run over the kitty.
It has to be just right. And this is the place to discuss your predicament, how to research possible objectives, real/imaginary goals and even whether you'll ever make real friends.
So dear applicant - fire away your questions.
I will start with my own:
"6 years in the energy domain. Spent 4.5 years in the US working for clients like Shell/Exxon. Project Management, Businee Development.
Now running my own firm - decent turnovers - limited client bucket. Growth opportunities - minimal. Love opportunities - non existent.
Logical step - search and get a job - thankfully the booming ecommerce startup space wants someone just like you - a silver tongued devil with an eye for numbers.
So what does a guy who sold heavy machinery for most of his life want with a e-commerce startup? Can this guy still say he will be a shark in the Shell/Exxon boardrooms? What will he do indeed?"
