Hello,
I took the GMAT last year (05/30/2013) and scored 710 (Q48 V39).
I'm taking the GMAT again in a week. I have heard that b-schools accept the highest valid GMAT score but I wanted to confirm the same.
Could you please tell me whether a lower score on my second attempt will in anyway go against me or will the schools blindly consider my previous score?
Thanks.
The schools consider your highest score but they can see all the scores. The score can easily vary by 20-30 points even with the same ability due to various factors so a score of a few points lower than 710 will not have any impact. On the other hand, a 600 at this point might be frowned upon. The schools may still put in 710 in their systems and move on but a recent 600 might make them a little shifty.
But if you are better prepared than before, there is no reason why you shouldn't actually improve your score. The ability doesn't go away - it only gets better with practice. Be optimistic and give it your best!
