Explanation

2. According to the passage, which of the following is mentioned as a factor in determining whether an individual with positively biased self-perception would actually be likely to perform an act of violence?

Difficulty Level: Hard

Explanation

Keep in mind; we need to find a factor determining whether an individual with positively biased self-perception would actually be likely to perform an act of violence? This is a specific portion question, and one needs to know what portion they might have needed to read again. The following is the text from which the answer is built.

“The mechanism that triggers aggressive behavior by these individuals has been suggested to be negative social feedback that challenges their positive self-views.”

“The relationship between positive self-perceptions and aggression may depend on the degree of perceptual distortion (i.e., moderate vs. extreme distortion).”

Read the answer choices one by one and eliminate them until we find the correct answer.

A. The gap between what the individual thinks about himself and how good he really is

This could be the answer as it is in line with the quoted text from the passage. Keep it until we find something better than this option.

B. The gender of the individual

This is not a factor that determines what the question is saying.

C. The anger level of the individual’s peers

This is also not in line with the passage.

D. The individual’s ability to ignore dysphoric feelings

This is a distortion.

E. The validity of the unfavorable feedback

This is just a trap and looks second good option but again, not better than A.

Answer: A
